How Do You Sort Through the Noise of Life…to Find REAL?
Words pitch and pinch. Pull and punch. Promise too.
It can be overwhelming…the digital jungle of self-help, inspiration, and instruction. Don’t blame technology.
For whose mind is whirling through the offers? Whose life surrendering to hours of touch pad dreams? Who is the seeker, stuck in the search?
It’s paying off, right? Sacrificing hours to the god-like words of Google…
What if there is another way?
What would it be like to stop wrestling databases for truth? To scoop away gigabytes of pointless ooze. And free our minds to make the precise connections needed to move forward.
Words…as friends? Guides? Collaborators?
TODAY’S CREATIVE DISRUPTION IS FOR ALL WHO WISH TO SHIFT FROM DISTRACTION TO ACTION
There will be resistance.
“I can’t take the time. I’ve too much to do already. I’m just not settled enough to profit from the vagaries of inner work.”
True, contemplation doesn’t pay the bills. But then again….maybe it does. Because a mind that learns to sort through distractions without feeling overwhelmed is an efficient machine.
STEP 1-FACE THE NOISE
Avoiding digital detours is much simpler than it appears. Beginning with awareness. Knowing when your brain is spinning ineffectively.
E-mails that needn’t be read.
Offers too frequently fed.
And research that deadens your head.
Gather some noise. I found these words in the incessant pitches of well-meaning marketers from whom I once accepted something “free”. Scatter them across the page. Add a bit of color.
STEP 2- LET GO OF ALL THAT NO LONGER SERVES YOU
Listen to your inner voice as you scrape color over any word that feels “off”. Stay soft and curious. As if you were exploring a fascinating new land. Look for words that are….
tight or pushy
cheesy or sleazy
Can you see it on the top right? I kept one word. JOURNEY. Everything else had to go. Even FREE. Because my truth tells me that freebies steal away my time.
STEP 3- PHYSICALLY REMOVING DISTRACTIONS
Choose one unifying color to scrape across much of the noise. Remember to honor the textural complexity of the journey by allowing some bits to show through.
Don’t make it too pretty! For wisdom often comes from life’s layers and complexities. Not polished. And not perfect.
Finally, stencil or paint your own message of wisdom. Based on the words you chose to keep.
Mine, It’s the Journey. A reminder that if my purpose is the process…there’s no way to get it wrong.
